( CHARACTER INFORMATION )
- ★ NAME: Jason Grace
- ★ AGE: 16
- ★ CANON POINT: post-House of Hades
- ★ CANON INFORMATION: jason @camphalfblood wiki

- ★ PERSONALITY:
As a result of his years spent living the Roman Legionary life, Jason is serious and disciplined. He's an excellent leader with a strong sense of justice, and he strives to live up to the expectations placed on him as the son of Jupiter. He's generally friendly, though not shown as being especially close to anyone in the Roman camp besides his co-praetor Reyna, and he appeared to thrive as the hero of Camp Jupiter.

Because of his time with the Greeks, however, both while he has amnesia and afterwards, we're able to see how much of that is just due to the way he grew up, and how much is really him. Jason is shown to have a decent sense of humor and an optimistic personality, and he seems to relax more and more as the series progresses. His greatest troubles tend to lie in his conflict over these Roman and Greek sides of himself -- still Roman by birth and attached to it by a life lived in that camp, but finding himself more and more drawn to the less militaristic Greek life. At the end of The House of Hades, he's apparently no longer Roman enough to command the Roman ghosts Nico summoned. The fact that he cedes his praetorship to Frank in that moment serves to illustrate his continued breaking away from the Roman life and his lack of attachment to such titles.

Because while he is a great leader and hero, Jason seems to have been struggling with the expectations placed on him as Jupiter's son. Unlike Percy, who maintains independence from his status as the son of Poseidon and hero of Camp Half-Blood, Jason isn't so easily able to separate himself from such things. He doesn't like letting people down, so he tries to live up to everyone's expectations, but he doesn't want to rely on his legacy either, so he feels the need to make a name for himself. He chose to join the Fifth Cohort specifically because it was considered the "worst" of the Legion, with the intent of restoring its honor -- a way of earning his own place, rather than letting his title of the Son of Jupiter make one for him.

Percy and Jason act as foils to each other in many ways, as the heroes of their respective camps and children of the Big Three. Jason is generally more respectful and cares more about authority than Percy does, and he's less inclined to rule-breaking. They both rebel in their own ways against what's expected of them, but Jason tends to do it from within the system and change things properly, as opposed to Percy's "fuck the police imma do my own thing" style. Though good friends, they clash over who's stronger -- a fight Jason is apparently confident that he would win -- and who's the "leader" of their group -- a title they both end up ceding to Annabeth anyway. Jason is more dutiful, and while he's extremely loyal to his friends and comrades, he tends to be more realistic. For example, when the seven find out that Nico is being held captive in Greece, Jason points out that it's probably a trap, and that most of them barely know Nico and can't necessarily trust him, while Percy can't even imagine not going to save him.

That isn't to say he's entirely cold, however. Though more cautious about where his loyalties lie than Percy, he's fiercely loyal to those that do have his trust, and he's overall a very compassionate person. He defends Piper from girls making racist comments about her when they first met and he didn't even know her, he's hesitant to lead her on romantically until he's got all his memory back and can be sure he isn't already taken by Reyna, and he's immediately comforting and protective of Nico after learning about his secret crush even though beforehand Jason had been uneasy around him. What's often mistaken as him being cold or boring is the fact that Jason is somewhat more impersonal than the others. Most likely due to his military upbringing and status as a leader in that system, he tends to be impartial and careful with his emotions. He's also extremely selfless, to the point that even the chapters told in his point of view often focus less on his personal problems and more on the others.

While all his friends are clearly very important to him, Jason's sister Thalia is definitely at the top of that list, despite their having been separated for most of his life. When he had amnesia, Thalia was the first thing he was able to remember, and he kept her photo with him after first finding it in Cabin One. Though he hadn't seen her since he was two, they bonded pretty much immediately after reuniting during his quest to free Juno. Besides her being his only real family, and his naturally being attached to someone he'd previously lost
(seemingly for good), Thalia represents the freedom Jason wants. While he's been firmly stuck with their father as part of his identity, Thalia was able to escape that and choose a path for herself with the Hunters of Artemis. When he saw where she slept in Cabin One, tucked away in the only spot out of sight of the statue of their father, he was quick to understand why and sympathize, not wanting to be under that gaze all the time either and wondering if there was an equivalent of the Hunters for guys.

- ★ COURT ALLIANCE:  Seelie; Jason is very clearly a heroic sort of person, whatever issues he might have with the basis for all that. He's quick to defend others, even those he barely knows, and he's just so overall good that it'd be difficult for anyone to justify putting him anywhere near the Unseelie.

- ★ ABILITIESJason is an excellent fighter, with twelve years of training in Roman legionary warfare, and has displayed skill with both spears and swords. In addition to this, as the son of Jupiter he has an array of sky-themed powers -- he has influence over various sky and storm spirits (and can summon a horse-shaped storm spirit named Tempest), some immunity to electricity, can control the wind, fly on air currents, generate storms and electricity, and summon bolts of lightning. He can also speak Latin.

- ★ INVENTORY: Just the Imperial Gold gladius he received from Juno at the end of The Lost Hero, and the picture of his sister he keeps in his back pocket.

[maybe he should be more weirded out by this whole locket deal. but then again, jason's gotten used to chatting long-distance through rainbows ever since he started hanging out with the greeks. honestly, getting used to weird things is pretty standard for demigods, so fairies and magic lockets aren't really anything special at this point. all that really means is that, if he looks a bit concerned right now, it's got nothing to do with the fairy locket he's speaking at.]

Well. Uh. [very eloquent, he is.] It's great to have received such a warm welcome and all that. And I understand that we're important to your whole cause and this war you're having. But...well, if there's any way I could be sent back now, that'd be awesome. Normally, I'd be fine with helping out, but things are kind of complicated for my own... [mythology?] ...group right now, and we've got our own war to deal with.

[and it's kind of a time-critical operation, but. y'know, no big deal.]

If not that, then I'd at least like to know if there's been anyone else like me here? Anyone from either camp. [they'd know what he means.]
